Women's Yangsheng

Acupressure and Massage

Women's Yangsheng Acupressure and Massage teaches fundamental methods of bodywork rooted in the philosophy and practice of Yangsheng (養生), traditionally translated as "nourishing life." This program introduces six foundational Yangsheng acupressure and massage methods developed specifically for the unique physiological and energetic nature of the female body. Integrating daoyin (dynamic qigong exercises that guide and regulate the flow of Qi), therapeutic massage, breathwork, and the stimulation of meridians and acupoints, these methods focus on the breasts, ovaries, uterus, and the principal channel systems involved in regulating a woman's energetic physiology. Together, they offer a practical introduction to the traditional art of women's Yangsheng while fostering greater body awareness, energetic balance, and a deeper relationship with the rhythms of the female body.

Course Overview

Lao Gong Activation is a foundational Qigong practice used to prepare the hands for acupressure, massage, and Yangsheng cultivation. Lesson One covers the location and function of Lao Gong (PC-8), activation of the Jing-Well points, and the cultivation of Qi within the palms before applying the techniques taught throughout the course. Preparation of the hands establishes the energetic foundation for intentional bodywork by gathering Qi within the palms and enhancing the ability to receive and transmit Qi through touch. Practiced on its own, Lao Gong Activation also serves as a simple daily Yangsheng exercise that promotes the harmonious movement of Qi and prepares the body for cultivation.

Vital Women's Acupressure is a restorative acupressure sequence that supports Yin, Blood, and Jing (Essence), three foundational substances in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Lesson Two covers the therapeutic application of a progressive evening acupressure routine that moves from the foot to the inner thigh, encouraging physical relaxation and preparing the body for sleep. The traditional relationships between these acupoints, the uterus, and the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) are also explored, providing context for their use in women's wellness.

Lower abdominal massage uses intentional circular massage over various acupoints to support Essence, Qi, Yang, and healthy circulation throughout the pelvis. Abdominal massage is essential for women's health preservation and supports the pelvic organs and the rich channel systems that irrigate them. Lesson Three presents the practice of Nü Hu Fan Fu, introducing the therapeutic application of Qi Hai known as the Sea of Qi. This practice is expanded to include additional points on the Ren, Kidney and Stomach channels as well as the Uterus nourishing mudra.

Dai Mai Massage is a therapeutic abdominal massage that harmonizes the Dai Mai (Belt Vessel), one of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels and a channel of particular importance in women's medicine. Lesson Four presents a two-directional massage technique that encourages the balanced circulation of Qi throughout the lower abdomen while exploring the Dai Mai's traditional relationship with the uterus, pelvic support, and the regulation of Qi, Blood, and Essence. The principles of tonification, dispersion, and harmonization are introduced through a practice designed to cultivate a vessel that is both strong and supple.

Doe Exercises are restorative Yangsheng practices centered on breast massage and energetic cultivation. Lesson Five demonstrates a foundational breast massage routine while introducing the energetic significance of the breasts, their relationship with the Heart, the Middle Dantian, the Heart–Womb Axis, and Jing (Essence), and why they are regarded as one of the primary centers of women's cultivation. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of intention and embodied awareness throughout the practice, illustrating how Daoist methods of breast massage extend beyond the manipulation of soft tissue to cultivate a direct awareness of Qi.

Brings together the five methods presented throughout the course into a single guided Yangsheng routine for daily practice. Lesson Six transitions from individual instruction to a continuous, meditative practice, demonstrating how Lao Gong Activation, Vital Women's Acupressure, Qi Hai Massage, Dai Mai Massage, and Doe Exercises are woven together into one seamless sequence. The complete protocol provides a practical framework for integrating these methods into a sustainable daily ritual of health preservation, longevity, and feminine well-being.

What is Yangsheng?

The Art of Nourishing Life 養生

Emerging from the animistic, shamanic, and medical traditions of ancient China, Yangsheng represents one of the earliest systems of health preservation, longevity cultivation, and spiritual development. Classical Yangsheng encompasses a wide range of wellness methods, including daoyin, acupressure, therapeutic massage, herbal medicine, meditation, breath cultivation, and the regulation of diet, sleep, and sexual life. Together, these practices seek to prevent illness, correct deviations in Qi (vital energy), preserve Jing (Essence), and cultivate Shen (Heart-Mind), supporting harmony across the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of life.

Women's Yangsheng recognizes that female physiology follows its own cyclical rhythms and energetic patterns. Its methods seek to optimize the natural rhythms of the female body, enhancing vitality, preserving youthful resilience and vigor, regulating the emotions, and cultivating a peaceful heart.
